After the guests have arrived and been given a welcome drink, the photographer takes photos of the happy couple with their friends and family. The couple then pose for a few photos together. Once they have finished, a wedding breakfast is served. Traditionally this is a three course meal, but could also be a buffet, or any other kind of food the couple choose!
When the meal is finishing, guests are given a glass of champagne or prosecco ready for the speeches. The bride's father usually speaks first, followed by the groom and best man. The father of the bride's speech traditionally contains anecdotes about the bride when she was a child, and he also welcomes the groom to the family. The groom thanks everyone involved in the wedding, and of course tells the bride how beautiful she looks! It's then time for him to sit down and hope the best man doesn't say anything too embarrassing in his speech... The guests toast the bride and groom, wishing them all the best for their future together.
The bride and groom cut their wedding cake in front of the guests. A traditional wedding cake is made of fruitcake with white icing, but the couple can choose whatever they like! Next, the couple take to the dance floor for their first dance. This is a song they have chosen because it's special to them, or very romantic. After this, the party can start! There may be a disco or live band. Food is usually served again later in the evening and is often a buffet.
After all of this, the couple are ready to jet off on their honeymoon!
